Bruce Long, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Dallas Christian College, is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Corey Auen to take up a post as Assistant Professor of Worship Arts and director of the Worship Arts program.  Professor Auen comes to Dallas Christian College from Staunton, Virginia in the heart of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.  He brings seven years of teaching experience at sister schools Mid-Atlantic Christian University and Cincinnati Christian University and fifteen years of ministry experience working with worship teams in diverse places like Cincinnati, Ohio, Johnson City, Tennessee, and Nellysford, Virginia.  Dr. Auen recently completed his doctoral studies from the Robert Webber Institute for Worship Studies. He also holds an M.A. degree in biblical studies and a Master of Divinity in church history from Cincinnati Christian University.

“DCC is blessed with wonderful instructors in voice, piano, guitar, and choir,” explained Long, “but we have needed that person with a deep theological and historical understanding of worship and how that extends into practice in the Church. I believe Dr. Auen will bring a robust worship theology to our students who will be leading the Church in the years to come.”

President Brian Smith would like to see DCC become a place that welcomes not just musicians, but creative people in general. “I believe Dr. Auen can help “creatives” of all kinds—artists, dancers, actors, poets and others—find meaningful ways to contribute to the way Christians worship in assemblies as well in the daily practice of a life of worship.”

Professor Auen’s passions for worship renewal resonate well with DCC’s mission to educate and mentor students to be people of influence who can successfully engage in their calling to the work of Christ in the Church and in the world.  “I believe that a Christian education is an important aspect of the discipleship process and that training in the discipline of worship arts is beneficial to every Christian’s walk with the Lord.”  Auen continues, “I want to help the DCC community embrace worship of the one true God as an integral part of daily life, both on campus and as they reach out to their neighbors.”

Please help us welcome Dr. Auen to the DCC campus!
