Changes Coming to Wallace’s Student Lounge and Cafeteria

Debuting this fall: a new Wallace’s Student Lounge and Cafeteria!

Wallace’s student lounge and the cafeteria have been undergoing changes throughout the summer.

The NEW Wallace’s Student Lounge

Vending! We are in the process of adding coffee vending capable of making hundreds of different kinds of drinks. These drinks will be available any time during the day or night. Those services should be available within a few weeks of the start of the fall semester. Other vending options will be available for the start of the semester.

One of the other objectives with this space was to provide a place for campus events. Wallace’s has now been redesigned with counter spaces, tables, and other furniture to enable use for these events and to be a place where students can chill.

Commuter students will also find the refrigerator and microwave service makes this new area a place to hang out and enjoy a beverage during FLEXCampus® class breaks.

Cafeteria Remodeled

The cafeteria needed a whole host of changes after last year and students will be pleased to see the new services provided with all these new changes. The entire space is in the process of being redesigned and updated with new paint, flooring, and chairs.

There will also be a new cafe/coffee shop in the cafeteria where baristas will be serving drinks throughout the day. The “grab and go station” will also be featured in this area for students. Having these new services in the cafeteria means better accessibility for those who had difficulty trekking up to the third floor in the Administration Building.

“The students indicated that they were concerned about the service hours in Wallace’s. This change means that students can be served their favorite beverage any time of day, managed by Patrick, the guy who gives us great food!” said Andrea Short, vice president for finance.

There has also been a rumor that students will be offered a “drink on the house” credit loaded on their iCards to try the new coffee service (they’re charging Admissions’ Brian Condra double to make up for it).

And Pizza! The plan is to always have quick options, like a pizza station, for students who would like a second option to the primary dish. There will also be a salad and dessert bar featured.

For those commuter students and guests, the area will also have a new point of sale station to make the transaction much easier than before. It will use iCards, credit cards, and in the future, will support Apple Pay

President Smith stated: “Our mission is to continue to provide new and improved services to our students. We have addressed many of the concerns expressed after last year and we think our students will be particularly enjoy the convenience factor with these updates.”

Look for these and other exciting changes coming in the fall!
