What is FLEXCampus™?

FLEXCampus™ is three ways to attend class each week:

  1. On campus in a classroom during the evening
  2. Online – Live web-conference at the time of the class
  3. On Demand– Watching the class recording

FLEXCampus™ gives you the freedom and flexibility to experience a great classroom education by allowing you to choose how you will attend class any given week. There are three ways to attend and you can choose the best experience for you depending on your schedule and location.

  • Does your schedule and location allow you to come to campus and experience inspired teaching in a classroom? It’s your choice.
  • Does your schedule or location make it impossible to get to campus, but you want to participate in the live interaction of the classroom? Join the fully-interactive web-conference (like Skype, but better) that allows you to ask questions, interact with fellow learners, and see everything on the whiteboard as it happens! It’s your choice.
  • Does your schedule or location make it impossible to attend in the classroom or in the web-conference? You can watch the recording of the class session, submit notes and questions, and hear the instructor’s answers to your questions at the beginning of the next class session. It’s your choice.

Are you a busy adult? Do you have a job, family, church, or any number of other commitments, and want to earn a degree? Our FLEXCampus™ program was designed with you in mind.

The live class sessions meet one night per week from 6:00-9:30 PM. However you choose to attend the class, you are done in 6 weeks. The classes are designed to meet Department of Education standards for credit hours. That means that in addition to the class time, an average student will spend about 15 hours per week doing course work. That is why most students only take one class at a time on top of their other responsibilites. Fortunately, the DCC FLEXCampus™ allows you to fit classwork and class attendance to your schedule and learning style!

  • Gain satisfaction from fulfilling an educational goal

The FLEXCampus™ program at DCC offers the Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Business, Interdisciplinary Studies, Practical Ministries, and Psychology.  The Business degree offers two tracks to choose from, Business Administration and Ethics or Nonprofit Management.  The Practical Ministries degree offers tracks in Ministry Leadership, Intercultural Studies, and Youth and Family Ministry.

The spiritual disciplines, Christian service, and mentoring are built into each of the programs. These are designed to help a student become a person of influence under God's influence.

The following criteria have been established for applicants to the FLEXCampus™ programs:

  • Applicants must have graduated from an accredited secondary institution or satisfactorily completed the General Education Development (GED) examination.
  • The admissions committee considers any previous college coursework.
  • Students must be in good financial standing with each college or university previously and/or currently attending.

There are several options for financing your education. They include:

  • Federal Financial Aid (grants and loans)
  • Military benefits
  • Work reimbursement (if your employer provides it)
  • DCC institutional scholarships and discounts

The Financial Aid Office will work with you to determine your eligibility for these programs.

Program Costs for 2014-2015
Tuition (per credit hour)* $456
Class Fee (per course) $90

Dallas Christian College is committed to helping students from all financial backgrounds achieve their dream of gaining a quality education. The primary use of financial aid is to assist students who, without such aid, would be unable to attend DCC. Financial aid may include scholarships, grants, and loans, any of which may be awarded singly or in various combinations but the total of which does not exceed the cost of education.

The Financial Aid Office is there to assist you in determining the best sources of aid for your particular situation. If you have any questions, problems, or need additional information, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 972-241-3371 x 105.

All new and continuing students must establish financial need annually in order to receive financial aid.
Applying for Financial Aid

  • Go to fafsa.ed.gov to complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid).
  • If this is your first time to fill out a FAFSA, you will need a PIN (Personal Identification Number) and if you are a dependent student, your parents will also need to have a PIN. The PINs will be used to sign into the FAFSA and to electronically sign your FAFSA and master promissory notes if you decide to take out loans. The PIN website is at pin.ed.gov.
  • You will need to have your  tax information in order to complete the FAFSA and if you are given the opportunity on the FAFSA to use the IRS Retrieval option be sure and use it to pull your tax information directly from the IRS.
  • Go to dallas.vfao.com and complete the interview.
    • If this is the first time you have been to dallas.vfao.com, you will need to register before you can complete the Interview. Make sure that you keep up with your registration information because you will have to complete an Interview each year for financial aid.
    • This information must match your FAFSA information. Be sure to choose Fall and Spring as the Terms of Attendance so that you can be awarded for both semesters at the same time. If you do not choose both terms, it will delay your aid for the next semester

You can apply for scholarships from DCC using this Scholarship Application

*Most courses are 3 credit hours.
** DCC accepts Dantes and Credit for Demonstrated Competency (CDC) tests to meet non-major course requirements. A student can transfer up to 30 hours of alternative credit.

A student can earn additional semester hours through the Credit for Demonstrated Competency (CDC) process or credit by examination. A maximum of 30 hours may be earned through these alternative methods. All alternative credit must be completed prior to registration of the final semester.

In the Credit for Demonstrated Competency process, the student prepares a portfolio documenting work experiences and the learning that has resulted from these experiences. These credits can be earned from many different sources, including workshops, seminars, independent study, noncredit classes, training programs, and work experiences. It is the learning, and not merely experience from these sources, that is evaluated and warrants the awarding of credit. In the admission process, a CDC advisor will provide the student with an estimate of the number of CDC credits he or she might receive through this process. A non-refundable fee is required at the time of application for Credit for Demonstrated Competency.

DCC accepts five examinations by which a student may earn credit in addition to the courses and the CDC process. These are:

  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP)—a national set of exams on selected topics offered on a regular schedule (testing available off campus only)
  • Defense Activity for Traditional Educational Support (DANTES) - a national set of exams developed by the military and covering college introductory courses in 50 different subject areas (DCC is a DANTES test site.)
  • Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations - a national set of exams on selected college-level topics studied at the high school (testing available off campus only)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Higher-Level Examinations – An international set of exams on selected topics studied through the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (testing available off campus only)
  • DCC institutional challenge exam.

Assuming that an acceptable grade is attained on an examination, DCC grants full degree credit. Assuming an acceptable score, all CLEP, DANTES, AP, and IB credits will be accepted for transfer students. Students may not receive credit for CLEP, DANTES, AP, IB, and a college course covering the same subject matter, i.e. the course equivalency will only be awarded once. All credit-by-examinations must be completed prior to pre-registration for the final semester. In certain cases, departmental examinations may be required as a part of the evaluation process.
