Student Pastor

Grace Christian Fellowship is seeking to hire a new Student Pastor. This person will serve as the primary leader in all areas relating to Student Ministry (6th-12th Grade). Our desire is to find a Student Pastor who is passionate about reaching the next generation and accomplishes that by finding and raising up great leaders to impact students.

 

Primary Responsibilities:
Below is a general list of job responsibilities, in no particular order, as a reference point.

• Provide leadership and coaching for Student Ministry Volunteer Team.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with Student Ministry Leaders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with students and their families.
• Oversee logistics of Student Ministry, including lesson plans, communicating with volunteer leaders, safety and security, vision, facility and technology.
• Be excellent at volunteer recruitment and developing a healthy leader culture, including discipleship, leader training, and leader appreciation initiatives.
• Work with other Grace staff to champion healthy families and identify opportunities to better equip, encourage, and partner with parents.
• Manage the Student Ministry budget.
• Work closely with other Grace ministries to provide additional support in church wide events as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

• Fulfills the character qualifications and duties of an elder as taught in the Scriptures (1 Timothy 3 & 5, Titus 1 & 2, 1 Peter 5).
• Leads with Joy and passion.
• Is a hard worker.
• Possesses strong gifts of leading, teaching, administration, organization, and time management.
• Is theologically aligned with Grace Christian Fellowship’s Statement of Faith.

 

Benefits & Perks:

• Quarterly Extra Pay. In addition to your salary, we pay you an extra 7.65%. This is normally called the employer tax portion in secular jobs. Since pastors are considered self employed by the government, they don’t receive this. This extra money is paid to you quarterly which allows you to pay taxes more easily.
• Grace Kids Learning Center. Full time staff kids attend our Grace Kids Learning Center for Free. GKLC serves babies through pre-k kids.
• Camps. We know camps can be expensive, so we never want money to be the reason your kids don’t go. Staff kids go to camps for free.
• Vacation Time. Working hard for something you believe in is incredibly rewarding, which is why we have a generous vacation policy. At Grace, you do not have to earn your time off in order to relax and recharge.
• Cell Phone. We will reimburse up to $100 monthly.
• Casual Dress Code. Just like our church services, our dress code is simple. What you wear is less important than who you are, so wear whatever makes you (and the people around you) ready to get the job done.

About Grace Christian Fellowship:

Grace was established in 1995 and we celebrated our 25th anniversary in October 2020. Grace is an incredibly loving and gracious church family. One of the things that makes Grace so special is the sense of family. People often communicate to us how they instantly feel welcomed and valued when they first visit.

Grace is a multi generational church that focuses on families in various stages of life. Over the past several years we have upgraded our facility to better serve children, youth, and families. In 2018 we completed our Student Ministry building serving our 6th-12th grade students. In 2020 we completed a brand new KidMin addition to our facility adding a new wing to our building that serves our birth-5th grade children. In early 2022 we completed a KidMin remodel on our old KidMin space which will add additional KidMin space and also be used for additional classrooms for the daycare we run during the week.

Grace is located in a part of Odessa that is quickly developing and growing. We own a total of 9 acres which will be helpful as our church continues to grow and as we add on to our facility in the years to come. We run a full-time, state-licensed daycare in our children’s ministry area during the week called Grace Kids Learning Center. This program is an incredible ministry opportunity to our community.

We are excited about what God has in store for our church in the years to come and excited to see who God has in store to lead our Student Ministry in the next chapter of our story.

 

About Our Student Ministry:

Our Student Ministry is an important part of our church here at Grace. We believe that students are not just the future of the church, but are a vital part of our church today. We love to have our students serving in various roles all throughout our church family. Our current Student Pastor has been serving at Grace for 17 years, and in 2022 will be transitioning to the Associate Pastor role at Grace.

Our Student Ministry currently has an active group of between 35-40 students. We have an incredible Student Ministry building that has a dedicated worship space, a hangout space, a snack bar with a seating area, and outdoor sports options (basketball, volleyball, 9 square in the air, and gaga ball).

Odessa is home to some of the most friendly, loyal, and hard-working people you ever will meet. Odessa is an oilfield town and much of the DNA of our town is connected to the oil & gas industry. Odessa has a population of 120,000 with an additional 50,000 people who live in Ector County which surrounds Odessa.
