The Ministry Residency at FirstABQ in Albquerque, NM is an opportunity to get real ministry experience in a large, diverse city as part of a vibrant church. We have sixteen small group, two worship services, and an active intergenerational family sized church. You won’t get lost as just a number in a crowd.
We offer an Annual Residency (11 months) or a Season Residency (10-12 weeks). It is designed for young leaders in their Junior or Senior year of college. You will get to choose from several areas: Children, Youth, Worship or Associate Ministry. Our Residency program provides you the opportunity to learn from other ministry leaders, in real life ministry experience as you use your gifts of service.
We provide each single resident: Housing (plus utilities), a weekly stipend, and practical experience in ministry. Our Senior Minister has preached for more that 25 years, trained ministers as a full-time practical theologian on a graduate faculty, and it active in local ministry. FirstABQ is also served by a Children’s Minister, Student Minister, Formation Minister and Worship Minister. We have an active volunteer base leading in worship, first impressions, small groups, and children and student ministries. You will serve in ministry with experienced leaders and receive regular mentoring from our ministry staff.
Albuquerque is the other “mile high city” with access to the outdoors and mountains (hiking, road biking, MTB, skiing, water sports, etc.). This is a great group of people seeking to follow Jesus and serve God in a beautiful place that is outside “the Bible Belt.” FirstABQ is an excellent place to serve God using your ministry gifts to build up and equip the body of Christ here and to improve your skills through action.
