Lady Crusader Basketball Kicks Off Their Season

Tuesday night the Lady Lions of SAGU (NAIA DI) played your Lady Crusaders. The Crusaders came out strong and took the early lead 6-0. The game was back and forth for the first fifteen minutes of the half. The Lady Lions went on a 16 to 2 run and were up by 17 at the half. The Crusaders came out for the second half determined to make a game of it. The lead went over twenty until the ladies hit five consecutive three pointers to cut the lead to eleven. Unfortunately that was as close as the ladies would get. Returning All-American Jessalyn Flowers was hit in the throat by an elbow in the first half and did not play the last 30 minutes of the game. The Lady Lions took full advantage of her absence and pounded the boards and began to pull away. The final score was 97-56. The Crusaders were led in scoring by senior Alison McGinnis with 21 points, sophomore Rae Davis with 13 and sophomore Ellie Gould with 12.

The Ladies are back in action this Friday against Regional opponent Barclay College.
