Crusaders Fall to Patriots 74-93

Dallas, TX – Coach Charles H. Williams’ Crusaders dropped their 4th straight , losing to Dallas Baptist, 74-93.   The final result undermines a gallant effort by the Crusaders to pull off a huge upset win.  A big Patriot 3 pointer ended a strong charge by the visitors from DCC to close the gap with 6 minutes remaining in the game.  That big shot, followed by several Patriot steals shut the door for good on any thoughts of an upset.

The Crusaders played their best game of the season, shooting 48% from the field and 43% from 3 pt range against a very good opponent.

The Crusaders can point to 27 turnovers, including 16 in the 1st half,   as the one of the biggest reasons for the outcome.

Junior Joshua Harris led all Crusaders with 17 pts and 4 rebs.  Sophomore Chad Herring followed with 11 pts and 6 rebs.  Senior Aaron Espinosa tallied 8 pts.

Jonathan Perry led all Patriot scorers with 18 pts followed by Westley Gipson with 17.

The Crusaders play their 1st home game next Tuesday, 11/19/13,  against Southwest Assemblies of God University.  They will seek to avenge an early season defeat at the hands of the powerful Lions.

** #5 on the stat sheet is Freshman Jonathan Devaughn.  Freshman Edgar Guereca was not active this game.
