Crusaders Going to Nationals!

Your Crusaders won the NCCAA Southwest Region with a 4-2 victory over #1 seed Barlay College on Saturday. They qualified for the Final with a 2-1 victory on Friday over #2 seed Ozark Christian College. In the semi against Ozark, Sam Stewart scored first off a perfectly placed ball from Chiva Rangel. Then after giving up a goal, Brian Macombe sent a cross in from the left and Adrian Mendoza played an amazing header past their Keeper to seal the win. In the final against Barclay, Adrian Mendoza put the Crusaders up 1-0 mid way through the first half. The score remained 1-0 at the break. Barclay evened the score at 1-1 with a goal early in the second half. Minutes later, Adrian Mendoza beat 3 defenders and played the ball to a wide open Cameron Boyd. Cameron buried the finish to put the Crusaders up 2-1. Barclay later tied the game again with a goal to make it 2-2. With just 10 minutes left in regulation time, Adrian Mendoza scored his second goal of the game with an assist from Marco Montes. Nursing an injury, Sam Stewart entered the game late and just in time! Paul Luckey played a through ball to Sam and Sam beat the Keeper and sealed the deal to put the Crusaders up 4-2 with just 5 minutes remaining.

Coaches Brad Rogers and Maurice Uyokpeyi couldn’t be more proud of this team. They have come together as a family on and off the field. They feel honored to be their Coaches. Please keep this Team in your prayers for safe travels as they embark to Kissimmee, FL to compete in the National Tournament. The games in Florida will be broadcast live on the web.
