DCC Crusaders tops Hillsdale Baptist in back-and-forth affair, 12-11 Game 3

DCC Crusaders and Hillsdale Baptist passed the lead back and forth five times on Saturday at Hillsdale, but in the end DCC Crusaders pulled out a 12-11 win in eight innings over Hillsdale Baptist.

DCC Crusaders finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. DCC Crusaders went up for good on an RBI triple by Caleb Gibson off Koebelen, plating Nathan Maxey.

Dustin Tarpley had two extra-base hits for DCC Crusaders. He singled in the sixth inning, tripled in the seventh inning, and doubled in the eighth inning.

DCC Crusaders’ Tarpley, Jonathan Perea and Kale McQuillen combined for five hits and six RBIs.

Neither team scored until the fifth when DCC Crusaders got on the board. DCC Crusaders scored on a two-run triple by McQuillen and a sacrifice fly by Perea.

Hillsdale Baptist quickly matched DCC Crusaders’ strong inning with a four-run inning of its own in the fifth. Hillsdale Baptist scored on a bases loaded walk by Tyler Sudduth, a two-run single by Daws, and an error.

DCC Crusaders went up for the duration of the game after the sixth inning. Additional runs came from a groundout by Nick Tovar.

DCC Crusaders added three more runs in the top of the eighth. The inning looked promising, as Perea doubled, bringing home Bryce Jones to kick things off. That was followed up by Zachary Diaz‘s double, scoring Perea.
