Coach Bio

IMG_1305Coach Johnson currently lives in Northwest Dallas and is happily married, 25 years and counting, to Christina Johnson. He has two daughters, Chelsea and Stefani, and one son, Christopher. He was born and raised in Longview Texas, where he graduated from Longview High School.

Coach Johnson has a long history with the sport, and his passion for the game began when he joined his first team in the seventh grade. He later went on to play for his high school in Longview and was then recruited to Louisiana State University, later transferring to San Diego State University. Coach Johnson then opted for the NBA and was signed by the Los Angeles Clippers where he played for one year. He then travelled around the world playing in countries such as Turkey, Italy, and Venezuela.

He has spent the last few years getting to know DCC as a FLEXCampus student in the Business and Bible program. He is excited about the opportunity to Coach for DCC particularly because of the College’s mission to mentor students. “The Bible says work as unto the Lord. I know God has brought me here to mentor these young men and to build a program that we can all be proud of — that helps build onto DCC’s already stellar reputation,” he explained.

Coach Johnson is already on full-court press, if you will. Recruiting students with both academic and athletic potential, and selling his new vision to those already on the team is how he hopes to take the program to new heights. One of his primary objectives is to build strong character in his players, which he believes will translate to his team’s success.

“It is apparent that Coach Johnson wants to win, that’s for certain. But at the core is this desire that his players grow in their relationship with Christ. We know that Coach Johnson will use basketball as an instrument of worship to God. We are so excited to welcome him as a vital member of our coaching staff,” said Sean O’Conner, DCC Athletic Director.

Thank you to Coach Johnson for all of your hard work!

TitanTitan Chijioke Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Titan Chijioke lives in Carrollton Texas and is married to Lawrence Chijioke and they have a beautiful daughter. Titan was raised in Nigeria and came to the united states on a basketball scholarship. She played at Albany State University and at Dallas Christian College where she was the team captain. She averaged about 13 points and 14 rebounds. She also was ranked number one in rebounds and in block shots and was ranked number three in points during her season. She was named an Academic All- American, Scholar athlete, All-American, and was named 1st Team Southwest Region. She also was called to the Nigerian national team in preparation for the Olympics when she was in college and actually was one of the youngest in the Nigerian national team camp before coming to the States. She has been an assistant coach at Dallas Christian College for the past two years. She was offered the opportunity to play professional basketball in Spain but declined due to the fact that she wanted to earn a college degree at that time.

Titan has worked with Life Time fitness as a basketball coach and youth development personnel and she has also worked with the prominent Ejike Ugboaja Foundation as an International/Athletic director for several years. It is a true blessing to work with an NBA star in the person of Ejike Ugboaja who was drafted for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Titan helps in grassroots development and sports and she loves the game of basketball and has played it almost all her life.

She holds a BSc in Business Administration from Dallas Christian college and graduated Magna cum laude and was given the Lucille Perkins award and was also awarded the Salutatorian award. She also has an MBA from Dallas Baptist University and another certification in Information Systems (MISM) from the same Dallas Baptist University where she had a GPA of about 3.70. She is currently on her PHD journey in her quest for a doctorate degree. Titan also teaches at Dallas Christian College as an adjunct professor. She inspires athletes to do good academically as they will need that in future. At some point she worked with the City of Carrollton and helped in projects that had to do with tournaments, recognition awards and events for a few years.

Her love of God is unquantifiable and that is the foundation of everything she does. Love should be paramount in the mind of her team and in the hearts of the student’s that she teaches, coaches and mentors. She has a great desire to raise up athletic warriors for Christ through sports. Coach Titan loves the Holy Spirit and always says that “He is her best friend”. Her motto has always been “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.”
