General Information about Financial Aid
Your Award Letter

Upon completing the necessary requirements to receive Financial Aid at DCC, you will receive an Award Notification Letter. This award letter will detail the amount(s) of financial aid you are eligible to receive. Your financial need is determined by taking your cost of attendance and subtracting the amount you and/or your family are expected to contributed (EFC) toward that cost. The Expected Family Contributor is calculated from the date you submitted on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Grants, scholarships, third party payments and exceptions are "gift aid" which do not need to be repaid. College Work-Study is on-campus employment. Stafford Loans are loans from the bank of your choice, that must be repaid upon completion of your degree program, or when you drop below half-time enrollment. Your award letter may indicated one or all of these types of aid programs.

In order to receive this aid, you must comply with all applicable grant or loan program rules and regulations, college policies, and financial aid procedures, including maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Changes to Student Information and Deadlines

Your award is based on the information you provided to the Office of Financial Aid at the time your application was reviewed. Changes to the information (e.g. additional scholarship funds from outside sources or VA benefits) must be reported in writing to the Office of Financial Aid. The Office of Financial Aid reserves the right to review and/or modify your award at any time. In order to secure funding for Fall registration time, you must have all financial aid documents in the Office of Financial Aid by June 1st.

Release of Funds

Pell eligibility will be established during the semester you have applied and have been fully admitted to DCC. This includes completing an application for admissions, declaring a degree seeking major or a certificate program, and submitting your final high school transcript, GED, or academic transcripts from other institution(s) to the Registrar's Office. You financial aid cannot be disbursed until you meet all eligibility requirements.

Grant Programs
