FAFSA Information
To qualify for any of the federal programs, including the Federal Pell Grant, you must fill out a FAFSA for 2007-2008. FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov/. Below are some helpful things to have on hand when filling out your application.
  1. Your social security number and your parents’ numbers, if you’re a dependent child.
  2. 2006 W-2 forms and other records of money earned (by you and by your parents, if you’re a dependent student)
  3. Your 2006 Federal Income Tax Return (and that of your spouse if you’re married).
  4. Your parents’ 2005 Federal Income Tax Return (if you’re a dependent student).
  5. Any foreign tax return or tax return from Puerto Rico.
  6. Your 2006 untaxed income records – examples include Social Security payments, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, welfare or veterans benefits records.
  7. Your current bank statements, business and investment mortgage information; business and farm records; and stock, bond and other investment records
  8. Your alien registration card (if you are not a U.S. citizen).

Other Helpful Hints

  • When you get your PIN #, keep it where you can easily get to it, but keep it secure. You will use the PIN in completing various forms and applications online. The PIN is your electronic signature, don’t disclose it to anyone.
  • Male students must ensure they have registered for the draft.
  • Once you've completed the FAFSA, and DCC receives the electronic copy, your award letter will be sent to your within a couple of weeks. The award letter summarizes your scholarships, federal aid, and tells you the balance (exclusive of any federal aid you will receive) that you must pay to DCC prior to the first day of class.
