Report form.
1. What is the goal of Christian
service?
The Christian service program of DCC seeks to encourage students in finding
venues for service during their college years, to help them develop their
spiritual gifts for ministry, to gain valuable experience, and to apply
what they learn in the classroom to the task of ministry. All Christians
are called to be servants. While these requirements appear at first to
be above and beyond the necessary academic work in preparing for ministry,
they are at the heart of preparing for service. There is no better way
to apply material learned in the classroom than to serve regularly while
at DCC. Entering Christian service hours is also a benefit to students
as they have a working resume when looking for internships and employment.
2. Is Christian service required
for all students?
Christian service is the goal toward which Christian college education
moves. Dallas Christian College thus requires Christian service of all
students on a regular basis as required by the Association for Biblical
Higher Education and as described in the DCC Student Handbook and catalog.
A record of each student’s Christian service is kept. Such Christian
service involvement is required for graduation as stated in the requirements
for graduation. Students are required to receive a passing grade in Christian
service for every semester in which they take six or more hours of classes.
Each student taking 6 or more hours must participate in a minimum of six
(6) hours of Christian service activities per month.
3. When are the Christian
service reports due? The following are the due dates for Traditional
students. QUEST students complete Christian Service Reports at
the completion of each class.

4. What does the Student
Handbook say regarding the purpose of the Christian service program?
Section 10.1 states, "Purpose of the Christian Service Program: All Christians
are called to be servants. That ministry or service may take various forms:
preaching, teaching, encouraging of others, counseling, visiting of the
sick, administering church and para-church organizations, ministering
to those in prison, meeting the needs of the homeless, the elderly, children,
taking leadership roles in the teaching and worship ministries of a congregation,
and countless more. The Christian service program of DCC seeks to encourage
students in finding venues for service during their college years, to
help them develop their spiritual gifts for ministry, and to apply what
they learn in the classroom to the task of ministry."
5. What is required
in order to fulfill the Christian service requirements?
Each student taking 6 or more hours must participate in a minimum of six
(6) hours of Christian service activities per month. At the end of the
month, the student then completes his or her Christian service form online.
6. What are some examples
of things that may be considered Christian service?
Acceptable activities are listed on the Christian service forms when you
log in. Some examples are listed below, while this list is definitely
not exhaustive:
Presenting special music
Preaching a sermon
Teaching or assisting in Sunday school or children’s worshi
Tutoring
Teaching a Bible lesson

7. Should I enter all
of my Christian service hours or only the required amount of 6 hours per
month?
We encourage students to enter in all of their Christian service hours each
month.
8.
Who may I speak with if I have questions regarding Christian service?
Questions regarding the acceptability of an activity for meeting the requirements
should be addressed to the Vice-President for Student Development at mworley@dallas.edu.
One should feel free to contact local churches or check with the Vice-President
for Student Development for available opportunities for service within
the metroplex and beyond.
9. If I am taking 2
courses at the same time, do I need to fill out the form for each class? If the classes have at least 5 weeks of overlap, you only need
to complete the form once. Please do not record the same hours on two
forms.
