Crusaders Achieve First Win of the Season January 5, 2009 On December 15, the Men’s Basketball Team, under the direction of Coach Charles Williams, had an exciting victory over Central Bible College. With a final score of 82-74 DCC won their first conference game of the semester. The crowd definitely had something to cheer about with some amazing three point shots made by Christian Lawyer, Phillip Ward, and Miles Burnside. Having the lead the whole game the Crusaders played some excellent defense, especially by our Point Guard, Roderick Johnson. Unfortunately when the Crusaders traveled to Ft. Worth the next day to take on the Texas Wesleyan Rams they lost by a close score of 68-60. Texas Wesleyan was ranked #7 in the NAIA Division I poll at that time. The crusaders played hard enough to put themselves in a position to win this one at the end but could not hold on. Both the men’s and women’s teams head to Kansas, OK this week to play against Manhattan Christian College, Ozark Christian College, and Nebraska Christian College in the Cookson Hills Classic Tournament. Coach Wiliams and the team are looking forward to the challenge of playing many large schools out of conference in order to propel the team to a strong run at nationals.
