In the Spotlight: Mark Yarbrough, Class of '92
Mark Yarbrough serves as Executive Director of Communications and
Special Assistant to the President and Chancellor at Dallas Theological
Seminary -- as well as pastor at Centerpoint Church. A native Texan,
Mark M. Yarbrough is a graduate of Dallas Christian College (1992)
and Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS). Prior to joining the faculty
and administration at DTS, he served in several ministries.
For 10 years he served at Piedmont Church in southeast Dallas as
youth pastor and then senior pastor. After graduating from DTS with
his Th.M. (Master of Theology) in the area Academic (Bible Exposition)
and Administrative Ministries, he spent several years at Dallas
Christian College. While there he served in a variety of capacities
including Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies, Vice President
for Student Development, Vice President for Enrollment Management,
and Associate Professor of Biblical Studies.
During his career, Mark has served in several ministry endeavors.
He has co-authored and recorded multiple songs with two different
groups: The Revelators and Four for One. He has led seminars in
preaching and teaching throughout the United States, and has presented
ministry conferences on topical platforms from books of the Bible,
to theological issues surrounding Christian Counseling. He has traveled
throughout the United States, with primary focus in the Southwest,
and has led travel tours as guide to Israel and Jordan.
Mark was named Valedictorian of DCC, received the Delta Epsilon
Chi Award, named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges
and Seminaries, is a member of Evangelical Theological Society and
AAR/SBL, and is a recipient of the SCEC Scholarship. He is also
a Ph.D. candidate at Dallas Seminary completing his dissertation
in the area of “Paul’s Utilization of Preformed Traditions
in 1 Timothy.”
Mark communicates the Word of God in a practical and passionate
spirit. He loves to travel and communicate the truths of Scripture.
He just returned from China where he spent time in Beijing and Hong
Kong, consulting government officials on theological education.
He also recently taught Pastoral Theology at Lanka Bible College
and Seminary in Sri Lanka where he serves on the USA Board. His
schedule is always full -- with an itinerary that ranges from the
Mountains of Colorado…to pastoring at Centerpoint Church –
where he is regularly preaching, teaching, or leading worship. In
his spare time he enjoys writing, watching baseball games, following
the Mavericks and Cowboys, and doing "farm" chores at
their home.
Mark and his wife Jennifer have been married for fifteen years.
They reside just east of Downtown Dallas. They have four children
– Kayla Marie, Jacob Dugger, Kayci Elaine, and Joseph Milton.
Their mobile daycare keeps everyone on their toes – and ample
opportunities to serve and display patience!
