In the Spotlight: Anna Russell, Class of '86
Garage Sales and anonymous gifts provide much of the needed
money for a couple to adopt their child. A family tradition welcomes
orphaned children for three generations. A single missionary in
Mexico begins her family when she adopts a daughter. A Filipino
couple adopts a Korean child. Numerous miscarriages and repeated
rejection from adoption agencies are endured.
These stories and more are included in Anna Russell’s (’86)
book Being His Arms Here on Earth, publication pending.
Anna states, “I like to think of these stories as not just
acts of God connecting couples with children but also of individuals'
yielding to a plan greater than their own.”
Awarded second place at the North Texas Christian Writers Conference,
Being His Arms Here on Earth is a collection of adoption
stories focusing on subtle acts of God connecting parents and children.
Included with heart-warming happy endings are snapshots of “would-have-beens”
and “almosts” illustrating the “pain and agony
(through which) God gets our attention, especially our surrender
to His will,” says Anna.
Anna Russell works on the publication board with Grace Community
Church in Tyler, TX. Her articles have appeared in various Texas
publications.
