How to Apply
Application to DCC's ACCESS program entails two phases of admission. First,
the applicant must apply to DCC as a student fulfilling all the admission
requirements of the Education Division of DCC, including completing a screening
process, and meeting the academic criteria necessary to enter the ACCESS
program.
- All prospective candidates must submit the following:
- completed application form to ACCESS and to DCC with required
fee ($50)
- completed form for a criminal background check
- completed Business Contract with required forms and signatures.
- official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended.
(Foreign transcripts must be translated at the student's expense)
- THEA or TASP scores report. TOFL, if needed. Register to take
the THEA at www.thea.nesinc.com
- Two reference letter forms: one personal and one professional
- Signed statement of support for the Christian missions of DCC
to integrate faith with learning.
- All candidates will participate in an interview to assess communication
and critical thinking skills
Admission Requirements
All applicants to the ACCESS Program must meet the following academic
criteria for admission:
- passing scores on the Content TExES before final admission and before
the internship begins
- completed, accurate application form with required attachments and
fees.
- official transcript from an accredited college/university documenting
a bachelor's degree
- transcripts that document all required content coursework (24 hours/12
advanced) and/or documentation of passing scores on the TExES Contest
Test
- transcripts that verify a cumulative GPA of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale)
for an unqualified admission; 2.6 or above for a conditional admission.
Documented successful and/or exceptional work experience may be accepted
as an alternative if the applicant attended college more than 5 years
ago
- THEA or TASP scores of 260 in reading, 230 in Math, and 220 in Writing
- scores on a DCC administered Critical Thinking Test in the top 25%
- acceptable Criminal History Record Report
- documentation of a minimum of 20 clock hours of hands-on experience
and observation or work experience with students in an educational setting
at the same level for which certification is sought
- strong communication skills demonstrated in the interviews and on
the admission questions
