What is ACCESS?

 

Alternative Certification Curriculum to Ensure Student Success (ACCESS) at Dallas Christian College provides highly qualified individuals with the opportunity to launch a successful career in education with Texas public school certification.

ACCESS is a State Board for Educator Certification in Texas to prepare adults with bachelor degrees to teach in public and/or TEA approved private schools. The program emphasizes the state teacher standards, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for students and meets the requirements for the federal No Child Left Behind law. Our purpose is to prepare candidates with bachelor degrees for success in their first year (internship) of teaching and for the second state certification test: TExES Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities Test.

How to Apply

Application to DCC's ACCESS program entails two phases of admission. First, the applicant must apply to DCC as a student fulfilling all the admission requirements of the Education Division of DCC, including completing a screening process, and meeting the academic criteria necessary to enter the ACCESS program.

Length of the Program

The program can be completed in as little as one academic year. Classes start in June and the candidate will complete the program the following May, or at the end of the internship year.

Program Benefits

  • Teach as an intern in a SACS accredited/TEA approved public or private school
